I was pedaling toward The Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, a year ago today as my wife and I completed our cross-country adventure.  There were so many emotions percolating within me it was impossible to acknowledge them all, but one thing was evident, a feeling of trust.    Trust is vital for your well-being when you're physically or mentally suffering, but when you're hurting, many demons look to tarnish it by sowing seeds of doubt as you wonder if you'll feel normal again.    Trust, along with gratitude and generosity (last week's MTP), is one of the nine attitudes of...

Yesterday, my wife and I took our dogs for our routine evening walk. It's a quality time moment that allows us to share about our days, get a few steps in, and hang with our dogs.  About halfway through our walk, the sky opened up with an impressive summer thunderstorm. You could see steam rising from the hot asphalt as our soaked clothes began to cling to our bodies. It was awesome.  Our older dogs didn't mind a bit, and our puppy bounced from puddle to puddle as she tried to catch the raindrops before they hit the ground. It...

Yesterday, I was doing a podcast interview, and the seemingly required first question was, "What is your story? Include any turning points in your life that significantly impacted you." I knew the host wanted to get to my "Last Bad Day" story - hey, if it bleeds, it leads, as they say in journalism, but I threw him a slight curve ball. I was more interested in sports but had a thing...

But here's the thing, we break physically and emotionally. It's part of the ride and doesn't make us less than.  I've experienced too many breaks to count, and these four screws held my tibia together until they started loosening - yes, I had a few loose screws in me from time to time. :) ...

Over the weekend, I took a casual ride to celebrate the end of le Tour de France. Given my slower pace, I saw two things that made me smile.  According to Strava, I have cycled this one road almost 800 times since 2017. On the surface, it seems like nothing has changed. You first pass the post office, and then across the street, it's the house with Ireland's Flag, then it's the house with the antique Citroën, then the deli, and so forth and so on.  But just as I got to the top of a slight bump, I looked to...
