Mindful Everyday Moment: #91 Feeling Sad for Mama Earth

When we started our 100 Everyday Moments, we promised they all wouldn't be rainbows, unicorns, and gummy bears.

They would cover a range of emotions because to truly live mindfully is to be open to all our possible feelings - not just the good ones. In fact, when we can acknowledge our sad moments, it helps us appreciate our happy ones.

Due to the wildfires in Canada, the air quality in the Northeastern part of The United States is horrible. It's not terribly hot, but we had to close all our windows and avoid going out into nature - which is part of our being. We are nature.

We feel sad. We are also worried. We still remember how Mother Earth responded when we shut it down in the early days of the pandemic. The planet will always be here. The question is, will there be any life on it?

When we feel sad, we don't personalize it as we allow ourselves to feel sad, and then in time, since mood follows action, we try to take a small step to, in this case, help Mama Earth. This might help you as well.
